Care Guide

REVERIE pieces are crafted primarily from metal. Metal is a material whose surface naturally changes over time and according to how it is worn. Fine scratches from everyday wear, changes in lustre, and the natural tarnishing of silver are not defects. They are records of the piece becoming part of the wearer’s life.

To preserve your piece and minimise tarnishing, we recommend following the care instructions below.

1. Precautions When Wearing

Prolonged contact with perfume, cosmetics, perspiration, cleaning agents, salt, or moisture may cause tarnishing or changes to the surface finish.

After wearing, gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth before storing the piece.

We recommend removing your piece before showering, swimming, using a sauna, or exercising. Repeated exposure to water, perspiration, and cleaning agents may cause the surface finish to change more quickly.

2. Storage

When not in use, wipe the piece with a soft cloth and store it in a pouch or case with minimal exposure to air and moisture.

Store each piece separately, as contact between metal items may cause scratches.

Avoid storing the piece in direct sunlight, humid environments, or near a bathroom.

3. Caring for 925 Sterling Silver

925 sterling silver may naturally tarnish over time. This is a normal characteristic of silver.

Light tarnishing can be removed by gently wiping the piece with a silver polishing cloth. If the piece has an intentional matte or brushed finish, avoid rubbing it vigorously.

To restore a polished shine, use the polishing cloth provided with your piece.

If you prefer a matte texture, gently rub the surface with a clean, non-metal kitchen scouring pad. Work lightly and evenly, following the existing direction of the finish.

For professional refinishing, please contact REVERIE rather than attempting to polish the piece yourself.

4. Everyday Scratches and Changes to the Surface

Rather than pursuing a uniformly high-polished finish, REVERIE embraces restrained finishes that preserve the texture of the surface and traces of the making process.

Fine scratches, softened edges, and changes in lustre that develop through wear are natural signs of use. These changes are not defects, but records that accumulate as the piece shares time with its wearer.

5. Cleaning

For light dirt or residue, wipe the piece with a dry, soft cloth.

For heavier soiling, add a small amount of mild detergent to lukewarm water and clean the piece gently. Rinse thoroughly, remove all moisture, and dry it completely before storage.

The use of abrasives, harsh cleaning agents, toothpaste, metal scouring pads, or ultrasonic cleaners is not recommended. These may affect the surface finish, engraving, or detailed structure of the piece.

6. Repairs and Refinishing

Pieces with deep scratches, deformation, breakage, or severe tarnishing may be eligible for repair or refinishing.

Availability and cost will depend on the structure, material, and extent of the damage. When making an enquiry, please include photographs showing the entire piece as well as clear close-up photographs of the damaged area.
